Yep. It’s definitely that time of year again. Do you have a photographer on your gift list? Or maybe, you’re a photographer and you want to drop a few hints to your family and friends. Look no further! I've put together a list of creative gift ideas for every budget. Here are my top gift ideas for photographers:
gifts Over $100
If you haven't had the money to invest in an 85 mm now is absolutely the time. 85 mm are INCREDIBLE at bringing you that rich creamy bokeh - and yes - moving down to the 1.4 is also great, however, for most of your photography needs the 1.8 will do just fine. Bottom line, for the price difference of over $1000 - the 1.8 is more than enough!

If you haven't experience HoldFasts harnesses you haven't lived! They are gorgeous pieces of art that you not only get to look at, but WEAR. Style + function = the perfect holiday gift!
gifts Under $100
Again, you can never have too many memory cards!
An expodisc is a HUGE time saver when it comes to getting your white balance correct at the time of the shoot. These things are great to purchase slightly larger than your lens so you can just hold it up, set it up, and go! It saves MASSIVE time when editing!
gifts under $50
I'm a HUGE coffee table book lover - when I saw this I immediately knew I needed it for my collection. Definitely a great idea for the book worms in your life!
Posing techniques for different body types is an important skill for every photographer.
The perfect stocking stuffer for the photographer in your life.
Necessary for those early morning shoots.
This one may seem strange, but you never know what is going to happen during a photo session! Being prepared for anything is always a good idea - I have used the scissor function more times than I can count!
gifts Under $20
If you've been searching for the cutest fedora hat - look no further! Seriously the best hat to have on hand for all your branding shoots, styled sessions, Friday night dinners, or even to have on hand as a prop for mom/girlie during your session! Plus coming in WELL under $20 how can you go wrong!
Know a photog that could use a little home decor upgrade? These are great for an office!
Gotta keep those lens' clean! A cleaning kit is necessary and practical.
This reflector will become your best friend. Whenever you're struggling with dark shadows or cloud cover, pop this baby out and all your worries go away. PLUS it's big enough that you can manage it on your own most of the time!
It's funny because it's true.
These are great for family photo sessions with young kids, and bonus - they're just adorable. I always have one handy in my bag, especially when dealing with fussy toddlers - sometimes a crazy giraffe is all it takes to turn a tanking session around!
gifts under $10
Simple, but useful. I know, who really wants to receive a step stool under the tree (probably pretty terrible gift), however, this thing is so light AND it collapses. It is definitely one of my #1 things you NEED to have on every shoot - SO - why not ask for it for Christmas and save yourself some cash ;).
I use these for anything from weighing down blankets, to holding things in trees. These clamps come in handy for just about anything - I know - again - hardly a sexy item to open up on Christmas morn' however, totally practical ;).
Self-improvement is always a good idea, no matter what stage you're in.
There you have it! My list of top gift ideas for photographers (or for yourself). This year has been rough, so hopefully this gift list helps to relieve some stress, and check something off of your list!
For all of my fellow Schitt's Creek lovers out there - I found this AWESOME - and VERY HIGHLY reviewed initial necklace. I don't know about you, but I think some days we can all channel a little Alexis, don't you think ;).
